Reliving the Charles Dickens era!

Our den was transformed in just a few hours as Libby Zellon and Emily Oliverio, with the help of Eddie and Ethan, shoved our furniture to the back of the room and put in a long table laden with a large center piece filled with vegetables and fruit. The room took on a glow as candles were lit and decorations were hung. Christmas lights sparkled and the pewter dishes caught the cheerful reflection.

Delicious food put the thirteen participants around the table at ease and made the conversation lively.  Libby even made homemade eggnog and Emily made a delicious homemade apple pie!

After a leisurely meal, everyone joined in to put items away and get the room back to its original state.  More cookies and dessert followed as everyone settled in the den to watch β€œThe Muppets Christmas Carol.”  A relaxing evening to a lovely Charles Dickens tradition!

  1. Great pictures! Thank you for making it so much fun for all of us!

  2. Nice facial hair Barak. Is that for real and does it mean you’ve left hq?

  3. The pictures are beautiful! How much fun it must have been. I have never seen such a beautifully set table. Where ever did you get pewter dishes? Wonderful memories I’m sure.

  4. We found all the pewter dishes in the attic of one of the buldings here on campus! It was an incrediblly fun evening with lots of special memories. The centerpiece was easy…lots of evergreen boughs (either real or fake-we used fake) with potatoes, oranges, apples, small pumpkins, and whatever vegetable/fruit you have. We also used pinecones, feathers, and Christmas ornament balls. Makes for a grand setting!

  5. Oh my! This party looks like SO much fun! Wow, I am keeping this in mind for the future. The set-up is gorgeous and I love the festivity of it all!
“The Muppet Christmas Carol” is my families very favorite Christmas movie, we always wait until everyone is home to watch it and then of course quote the movie the entire way through. Fun times πŸ™‚
I enjoy keeping up with your happenings through this blog Kendalyn. Many Christmas blessings to you and Robert… and little one πŸ™‚

  6. Lydia! I’m so glad you found our blog! It’s fun to update and keep our families and friends involved in our lives despite the miles. πŸ™‚ I’d highly recommend doing a Dickens event ~ it was a fun evening and a great way to make memories and the greatest part is that your creativity is your limit! Be sure to send pictures when you do one. πŸ™‚

  7. Nicely Done! Way to keep the humbug out of Christmas!

  8. It was fun, Andy & Amanda, thanks to you two pioneering this the years before! Matt, Barak is still here at HQ…we just used some creativity to make the evening more fun (i.e., mascara). πŸ™‚
